If you wish for an archived broadcast to appear as a live event, you can schedule a broadcast and plug in another broadcast to feed content to it.
Note: Backup mode must be manually enabled on your site, contact BlueFrame Support for more information.
In this tutorial we will reference broadcasts via the following method:
- Broadcast B - this is the broadcast you want the content to be shown for. This broadcast needs to be already archived or uploaded as a .mp4 file. For information on uploading, please see the following: Uploading a Video to the Archived Section
- Broadcast A - the broadcast that will show up as selectable for the viewer.
In vCloud, navigate to Broadcast B and select the Magnifying class on the Broadcasts page.
Within the Broadcast details page, select the Misc. tab. Then grab the broadcasts M3u8 URL and copy it.
Now, go and Create Broadcast A, if you have not done so already. This is the broadcast viewers will choose from your Upcoming/Live area of your portal page or widget, so name it appropriately.
Under the Broadcast's Backup Mode option. Select Content from the dropdown. Then under Alternative Content URL, paste in the M3u8 URL that was copied from Broadcast B.
Finally, change the Backup Status to Streaming, if you wish for it to appear as Live for your viewers.
Finally, navigate down and hit Create or Save.
Your viewers will then see the Broadcast as Live and the content from the archived Broadcast B will be populating it.
This broadcast will stay live so long as you want it to be. You can update the availability settings or archive the broadcast to alter this state.
